GTA V is likely to arrive sometime in the middle of 2012, and while the industry anxiously awaits the big surge the next installment should provide, Take-Two this week issued some new sales data for the last Grand Theft Auto.
Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick noted during a talk at ThinkEquity's annual Growth conference that GTA IV had recently passed 22 million units shipped since its release in April 2008. Overall, the GTA franchise has exceeded 114 million units shipped to date, he said.
For comparison purposes, GTA: San Andreas had shipped about 21.5 million units on PS2 by the time that GTA IV came around.
Besides GTA, Zelnick also quickly updated the shipment totals on some other key Take-Two franchises: Midnight Club stands at 18.5 million, NBA2K is at 17 million, Red Dead Redemption is now up to 12.5 million, Civilization has reached 11 million, BioShock is at 9 million, Carnival Games is at 8 million, Max Payne is at 7.5 million, the Mafia franchise stands at 5 million, Borderlands at 4.5 million, and The Darkness has only seen 1 million.
