MTV Games is confident that the upcoming Green Day: Rock Band will appeal to gamers, as the band is currently active. Speaking about the upcoming game, and reflecting on the inevitable The Beatles: Rock Band comparison, MTV Games general manager Scott Guthrie stated, “We were pleased with the performance of Beatles: Rock Band, but we were expecting higher sales. Our core audience of 16- to 34-year-old males are much more familiar with Green Day music than The Beatles."[thanks MCV]
The music games market has taken a sharp hit over the past year, but with the Green Day game coming out, the ever-expanding library included with the Rock Band franchise will be compatible with Green Day. Though The Beatles: Rock Band did not hit the expected sales mark that MTV games was hoping for, they were pleased with the resulting sales figures, even turning ‘All You Need Is Love’ into the fastest selling Rock Band song thus far.
Green Day: Rock Band hits the stage on June 8.
