Some interesting news has already started coming out concerning the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series. Sources familiar with the game have noted that the upcoming title will be taking place in Los Angeles (or rather, Rockstar’s equivalent seen in San Andreas). Also of note is the potential revelation that more than one character might take on the role of protagonist.
While few details exist for the game, one simply has to look back at a few details that were hinted at back during casting calls; many of the characters had something to do with celebrity and California lifestyle. Acting positions available called for characters that were Beverly Hills party people, a character working on becoming a celebrity, a publicist for an actress and even an FBI agent tasked with consulting for a TV show. There is a lot of information here that sets up the stage for a west coast placing for GTA V.
The other big detail is the potential for a game-changer for Rockstar, in that the campaign would be played through multiple protagonists. While no other title has done this in the series, GTA IV actually gave us a shot at using two other characters for the two separate DLC packs offered post-launch.
Of course, all of this could be moot with speculation rife as to what the logo could mean. Many are speculating that the game is to be set in a Washington D.C. area, thanks to the usage of a $5 bill sign.
Answers might or might not be revealed November 2 when Rockstar debuts the first trailer for the game.
