GTA San Andreas and Vice City iOS Ports Possible

Posted October 28, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III was big news for gamers who have embraced iOS and some Android devices thanks in part to the recent port.  It seems as though GTAIII might not be the only title to get the treatment, as Rockstar has admitted that San Andreas and Vice City could get the same treatment.

Speaking to Digital Trends, Rockstar noted that since all three games run on the same engine, the possibility of porting the two titles was doable, with reservations.  Strictly speaking, San Andreas is the biggest of the three games, encompassing a massive three cities within its world.  For those games to be put to mobile devices, Rockstar would have to commit quite a bit of effort for such a “technical challenge.”

Still though, newer mobile devices have proven that games like GTA are able to be run fairly smoothly.  It stands to reason that Vice City and San Andreas are just a small step in the ongoing march to a mobile gaming world.
