Pretty in pink...

Downloadable content is becoming a bigger and bigger component of the game industry every day. In fact, one company forecasts that DLC will be worth $1 billion this year. Rockstar's episodic content for GTA IV is no doubt a big contributor to this growing sector.

Today, Rockstar revealed that its follow up to The Lost and The Damned will be available for download through Xbox Live on October 29. Called The Ballad of Gay Tony, the new DLC will be priced at 1600 Microsoft Points ($20).

Additionally, hitting retail on the same day (October 29) will be a disc-based compilation of both episodes, The Lost and The Damned along with The Ballad of Gay Tony. The retail package will be called Episodes From Liberty City and will sell for $39.99.

I think the retail disk will be a big hit. The Lost and The Damned got great ratings from reviewers. The Ballad of Gay Tony should also be good. And for $40 without requiring the GTA 4 disc, the game is a total bargain.
