God of War III Longer than Predecessors, says Studio Director

Posted January 20, 2010 by David Radd

The God of War series has developed a reputation for being a gaming gauntlet: challenging but only taking several hours to finish.  God of War 3, however, may be the longest entry in the series yet.

“We've done a lot of play testing on it. We know, for a really hardcore player, it'll take them longer than it took them to play either of the previous God of War games,” said John Hight, the studio director of Sony Santa Monica to MTV's Multiplayer. When asked if ten hours was a more realistic assesment, he responded. “Ten is longer, but ten might not be considerably longer! [laughs] It's more than 10 hours.”

While certain gamers always cheer that they'll get more gameplay for their investment, we hope that God of War III maintains the series' track record by being jam packed with memorable moments rather than repetition and filler.
