Red Storm, the developer working on the multiplayer for the upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and the studio behind the original Rainbow Six has announced that 38 employees have been laid off. The studio is owned by Ubisoft and was co-founded by Tom Clancy.
Ubisoft has confirmed that the layoffs did occur at the North Carolina based studio due to “a realignment of production priorities.” The spokesman for Ubisoft added, “These team members have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios.”
There was no mention of how the layoffs have affected the studio. The Ubisoft rep stated that at least one publicly-announced project would continue. “Red Storm remains an integral part of Ubisoft’s worldwide production team and will continue to work on the multiplayer component of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier.”
Another Ubisoft spokesperson, talking to Kotaku, stated that “the decision was part of a plan to allow the studio to focus on its core expertise: developing innovative multiplayer experiences.”
Red Storm’s most recent activity includes 2007’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and America’s Army: True Soldiers. The studio has been responsible for military games, developing such franchises as Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. The studio was founded in 1996.

Pretty sure GR: Future Soldier is being handled by Ubisoft Paris, not Red Storm.

Well, they're working on the multiplayer, but it's not super clear. I'll edit.
