Mobile games publisher Gameloft today announced that its sales for the first nine months of 2009 are up 18% to 90.2 million euros. Although Gameloft also publishes for handhelds and digital platforms like XBLA, mobile games accounted for 95% of the company's third quarter sales.
Mobile game revenues increased 17% over the first nine months, and Gameloft credited the "huge success of Gameloft games on Apple's AppStore" as well as the "strong performance" of the company's Java and Brew games. In terms of a geographic breakdown, during the first nine months of 2009, Europe, North America and the rest of the world represented 38%, 33% and 29% of total sales, respectively. Interestingly, the strongest growth actually came from Asia and South America.
Gameloft is expecting "solid" sales and profitability for the full year. "In the long term, Gameloft is in an ideal position to benefit from the rapid development of digitally distributed video games on mobile phones and consoles, as well as from the major innovations introduced by companies such as Apple, Nokia and Google," the company stated.
The company today also signed new operator agreements for Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
