Gameloft to Open Studio in Louisiana

Posted August 12, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Gameloft has announced a new expansion for the company, opening up a studio in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The new studio will hope to bring in about 150 employees over the next 10 years while Gameloft takes advantage of some rather generous tax incentives offered by the state.

"As it stands, we expect to employ an approximate 150 people in our New Orleans studio over the course of the next 10 years,” said general studio manager for the U.S. and Latin America, Samir El Agili to Joystiq. "But with the fast pace and rapid expansion of the handheld and downloadable market we will adjust that number accordingly should we find it necessary."

Gameloft says that the new studio will focus on developing titles specifically for downloadable platforms, including XBLA, PSN as well as social and mobile venues.
