Gameloft Sees 140% Rise in Profit for the First Half of 2010

Posted September 1, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Gameloft has released its fiscal report for the first six months of 2010, ended June 30. The company saw sales of €66.6 million ($85.2 million), a rise of 11% from €60.1 million ($76.9 million) during the same period in 2009. The new profit for the half-year was €5.3 million ($6.7 million), an astounding 140% rise from €2.2 million ($2.8 million) last year.

Gameloft enjoyed accelerated growth for the second quarter of 2010, driven by an increased market share in the Java and Brew mobile game markets. Many of the publisher’s competitors left for the more lucrative smartphone market, leaving Gameloft unchallenged.

The mobile publisher was also a big hit in the smartphone market, being one of the top publishers for iOS-based devices like the iPhone and iPad. Gameloft’s App Store revenue grew 82% for the first half of 2010. The company is keen to keep its scope wide in the future, with planned titles for all tablets and downloadable console services, including iPad, PlayStation Network, Nintendo DSiWare/WiiWare, and Xbox Live Arcade.

Gameloft expects continued growth heading into the second half of 2010. Third quarter sales will be published on November 3, 2010.
