Mobile developer Gameloft has announced its financial earnings report for the third quarter of 2011. The company recorded sales of €40.6 million ($55.7 million), up 17 percent from the previous year. Europe amounted to 29 percent of the company’s revenue, with North America coming in at 28 percent, and the combined total of the rest of the world hitting 43 percent.
Gameloft’s success is driven by the continued growth of the smartphone and tablet markets, with sales on those platforms growing 60 percent year-over-year. The sector represented 34 percent of Gameloft’s total sales.
Heading into the next quarter, the publisher believes the smartphone and tablet markets will continue to grow, with the new addition of Google’s smart TV platform, Google TV, providing a new market segment. Recently launched games including Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, The Adventures of Tintin and Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front Free+ are already successful and should make for a strong fourth quarter.
