Game Players in India, Vietnam to Reach 25 Million by 2014, says Pearl

Posted March 4, 2010 by James Brightman

When you think of video games, you certainly don't think of Vietnam or India, but these two emerging markets are becoming increasingly important because of a large population of youth seeking entertainment content, Pearl Research has found. The firm has released a double report focused on the games and digital entertainment markets in Vietnam and India. The number of gamers in these regions is expected to reach 25 million by 2014.

Pearl said that rising incomes and an increasing Internet penetration rate has been key to the growth. In fact, there are more than 50 online games in the market in Vietnam, which Pearl says is "a notable achievement given that the online games market emerged in popularity in 2004." There have also been more locally-developed titles, aimed specifically at Vietnamese gamers. Currently, Vietnam has about 22 million Internet users with an Internet penetration rate of 25%, and the top online games in Vietnam can attract 200,000 users.

India is an even bigger market, with an Internet user base of 40 million. That said, Pearl noted that while "India has always attracted attention with a fast-growing economy, large legion of English-speaking middle-class and a thriving information technology (IT) sector," the country's "games market can be challenging with infrastructure issues and a nascent gaming culture." Pearl added that there have been "extensive investments in India's digital entertainment sector with new game launches and a proliferation in the number of mobile titles. In addition, more than 180,000 Internet cafes across India provide access to Internet and digital content."

Check out Pearl Research for more on their international reports.

They want to give it to NIntendo. More lawsuits need to be filed. Everyone has a right to own their own stuff and not be cheated off the money that someone else could make off them by copying their work. driver updaters

A next generation San Andreas is definitely where it's at. Heck, there are enough land marks and land mass in Los Angeles ALONE to easily cover an entire game. Rockstar North has not let us down yet. A quality game takes time. I guarantee you i'll be at the midnight release for this! online fax

This is not saying that Gamestop is doing poorly, on the contrary, they are still doing amazingly well in the face of one of the biggest economic crisises since the great depression.online fax
