Game Middleware Company Emerges with New CEO

Posted March 9, 2010 by David Radd

Emergent Game Technologies revealed today that Scott M. Johnson has been appointed as the new CEO. Johnson has actually been in the position since late 2009, where he helped lead the company to a 35 percent increase in profit for the fourth quarter.

"2010 looks to be a successful year for Emergent, as we complete a string of strategic hires and continue to support our ever growing roster of developers and newly signed licensees,” stated Johnson. “Over the past 12 months the video game industry has seen a dramatic shift in the way it conducts business. The era of $15 million plus titles is in our rear-view mirror and changing focus to the new way business is done will be challenging for our competition.”

Johnson started his career at Certified Public Accountant Deloitte & Touche LLP. He then spent several years at Vivendi Universal Games as vice president and chief financial officer for Universal Interactive, managing franchises like Crash Bandicoot, Lord of the Rings and Spyro the Dragon, and helping to launch Vivendi's Black Label Games. Most recently, Johnson was co-founder and CEO of Mobility Entertainment, a mobile entertainment developer purchased by Foundation 9.

“As developers and publishers look to new business models, Emergent is out front in two proven ways,” continued Johnson. “First, our flexible and agile technology serves the growing free-to-play and social MMO, digital distribution and other expanding categories, and second, our company culture is dedicated to working closely with independent game developers to quickly put their best ideas on screen.”

I wish I could find any meaning or any redeeming value in it. It was one of the biggest, worst, costliest blunders and stupid dumb-fuck moves in the history of bad U.S. Foreign policy.HostRocket Review
