Game Industry Analysts to Discuss Future of Video Game Biz at GameSupply

Posted February 1, 2010 by James Brightman

Organizers for GameSupply, which is jointly produced by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) and the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA), today sent word that three premiere game industry analysts will participate in a research panel on the future of video games. Jesse Divnich, Vice President, Analyst Services, Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), Colin Sebastian, Senior Vice President, Lazard Capital Markets, and Nick Williams, Director, Gaming Insights, OTX, will come together to present new data findings.

"Attendees will hear how these experts think the video game industry will fare in 2010, how digital distribution will change the market and impact demand for packaged goods, how the demand for game apps on mobile devices and social media sites will transform the industry, and how gamers’ buying habits have changed during the 'Great Recession',” organizers said.

“The video game business is currently undergoing tremendous changes in how games are distributed and consumed, and it is imperative that we understand the ways in which these forces will transform the industry,” stated Devendra Mishra, GameSupply Conference Chairman and MESA Chief Strategist. “We have enlisted three of the most perceptive observers of the industry to share their knowledge and analysis with us so that attendees can have a clear understanding of what the future may bring.”

Newly appointed IndustryGamers publisher Mark Friedler will also be at GameSupply to moderate a panel called Retailing Business Models: Variations on a Theme. Joel Resnik, Director, Games and Consumer Electronics, Redbox and Chris Woodbury, Demand Planning Senior Manager – Video Games Team, Best Buy, will discuss how video games are sold, rented and traded at retail – both in stores and online.

GameSupply will be held on February 10th at the Hilton San Jose in Silicon Valley.
