Gaikai creator and director David Perry has some strong words for Microsoft, insisting that they move into streaming service before they start to lag behind. The recent move by Microsoft to reportedly halt the Xbox TV service has done little to strengthen the company’s move into cloud streaming. Perry believes that this is a make-or-break moment for Microsoft, one that could possibly kill the Xbox brand.
“Digital TVs are including all of that media stuff," Perry said. "I think the mistake that the console companies are making is not a mistake of their choice--it's the evolution they have to go through. Once the other media hubs can have games--and I don't mean Checkers, but things like Call of Duty--the public will get confused."
Simply put, Microsoft is moving out of a market that is looking to become a very big segment of the electronic entertainment sector. With Apple showing signs of their own TV, and Sony making waves to offer cloud streaming capabilities, Microsoft has no choice but to join in the struggle.
