Gabe Newell to be Honored at 2010 GDCAs

Think Services Game Group today announced that Gabe Newell will be honored at the 2010 Game Developers Choice Awards. The co-founder of Valve will be given the Pioneer Award for helping to create the download service Steam and having a hand in creating industry changing titles like Half-Life, Portal and Left 4 Dead.

Previous winners of the GDCA Pioneer Award include Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, founders of Harmonix, the “Father of Video Games”  Ralph Baer, and Alexey Pajitnov, the mind behind Tetris.

Newell will be honored at GDC in San Francisco's Moscone Center on Thursday, March 11. The top games from 2009 will also be acknowledged during the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony.
