Forza Motorsport 3 Speeds Past 1 Million Sold

Posted December 8, 2009 by James Brightman

Having released near the end of October, Forza Motorsport 3 has now eclipsed 1 million units sold worldwide during its first month at retail, Microsoft announced today. In addition, Microsoft said that the Forza community on Xbox Live has collectively logged over 6.6 million hours playing online in more than 64 million connected sessions while driving over 590 million miles (952 million kilometers) in the game to date. And just for the fun of it, the company added, "That’s equal to more than three trips from the Earth to the Sun and back!"

Developer Turn 10 also announced a “Hot Holidays” Car Pack, available today on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points. It features 10 more cars for the game, including first-ever virtual test drives of the new Ferrari 458 Italia and the latest Nissan GT-R Spec V. Another car pack is expected to be released to coincide with the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early next year.

Not bad. I'm sure they would have liked more but that is pretty impressive sales considering how saturated the racing market is with all the existing racers like PGR3, PGR4, Forza2, Need for Speed (annual), Burnout (at least 2 of them), and Midnight Club games.
