Final Fantasy Social Game Coming From Square Enix & DeNA

Posted October 27, 2011 by M.H. Williams

It’s not out-of-the-question to say that Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy brand has lost some of its luster.  So the company has decided that it’s going to try something new with its next outing.  Square Enix and Japanese mobile platform operator DeNA are teaming up to create the first social game attached to the brand.  DeNA will be developing the game in-house for launch on its Mobage game network, using classic Final Fantasy characters.

Japanese players have the chance to pre-register for the game today, and those who purchase Final Fantasy Type-0 for PSP will be receiving some sort of in-game benefit.

Square Enix has previously released Chocobo’s Crystal Tower and Knights of the Crystals for Facebook, with Emperors SaGa coming to the GREE social network this Fall, but none of the titles up until now have carried the Final Fantasy name.
