Released on October 19, Fallout: New Vegas has been seeing "huge demand" and "record sales," according to Bethesda Softworks. The publisher today announced that it's already shipped 5 million copies (across Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows) worldwide to meet the demand.
Bethesda also said that there's been a "heavy volume of digital downloads." So far, the game's revenues represent "well over $300 million in retail sales." Even the Fallout: New Vegas strategy guide was one of Amazon’s best sellers among all books.
“We are delighted by the reception Fallout: New Vegas has received from fans around the world,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. "Despite the large launch quantities for this title, we have already received substantial re-orders from our retail partners, underscoring the tremendous popularity of this highly entertaining game. We believe Fallout: New Vegas will be the 'must buy' title for gamers throughout the holiday season.”

I hope their customer service department is girded for war, since reports are already flying about how buggy the game is. Christmas will be a particularly fun time for them, I think, since plenty of people will get the game and not connect to get the latest patch and get welcomed by game crashes and save game corruptions.

I haven't heard of any problems with the game in that department. In fact, just from my own experience playing the game and from what all of my friend's say as well, it's not nearly as buggy as a lot of other games coming out, and that's one thing I like about it. It seems like a lot of companies aren't play-testing their games quite as well before their release, and so far Bethesda has been #1 on my list as far as bug-free goes. I haven't gotten far into the game yet though, I could be wrong.
