Facebook Meets FIFA Superstars

Posted May 10, 2010 by M.H. Williams

None are safe from the lure of the Facebook social gaming phenomenon. EA Sports President Peter Moore announced FIFA Superstars for Facebook via an EA blog post today. The game will be designed by Playfish, a social gaming developer that EA acquired in November of last year.

“As I’ve said a number of times, we have an opportunity to pioneer new ways to play new games to extend EA Sports experiences to a broader audience, particularly in a World Cup year and at a time when we see such an appetite for fans to connect through interactive football,” said Moore in the post. “Leveraging our football gaming knowledge and marrying it with the social gaming expertise of our partners at Playfish is sure to provide more great opportunities to bring hundreds of millions of new fans to compete against their friends to win the FIFA World Cup through an engaging interactive football experience.”

FIFA Superstars will mark the first EA franchise that Playfish has worked on since being acquired. Moore says EA Sports will be revealing more on the title soon.
