ESA's Injunction Against Chicago Transit Authority Ban Here to Stay

Posted June 2, 2010 by M.H. Williams

After receiving an injunction against Chicago Transit Authority’s ban of mature video game advertisements in January of this year, the Entertainment Software Association today received a permanent ruling on the matter. U.S. District Court Judge Pallmeyer ruled that CTA ordinance No. 008-147, which banned ads for games with a M- or AO-rating (such as GTA), was now under permanent injunction.

The CTA will be paying the ESA’s lawyer fees for the case, and they’ve agreed to not seek an appeal on the decision. According to court documents, if the CTA violates the injunction they remain liable for any further court fees pertaining to the resulting case.

"We are pleased that the CTA chose not to pursue this further and waste valuable resources on this matter," said ESA President Mike Gallagher.
