ESA Lobbies With $1.1 Million

Posted July 30, 2010 by David Radd

The AP reports that the ESA spent $1.1 million during the second quarter of 2010 on lobbying, down 5 percent from last year's $1.2 million. Most of these activities dealt with video game content regulation, First Amendment protection and parental control technology issues.

Specifically, the ESA lobbied on piracy and copyright enforcement rules and for green cards for skilled foreign workers. The Association is also against the California law recently brought before the Supreme Court that would make it illegal to sell 'Mature' rated games to children, which they argue would have a chilling effect on the gaming industry.
