Epic Mickey Developers Hoping for Strong Sales

Posted December 1, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The release of Epic Mickey is now offering a new perspective on the venerable character of Mickey Mouse, and that has people wondering how the game is going to sell. Though the game focuses on a well-known character, the release is only occurring on the Nintendo Wii.

Developer Junction Point is hoping that the “soul” of the game is going to help propel it past other titles for the Wii this holiday season.

According to Junction Point’s Paul Weaver, “I think it comes down to belief at the end of the day and we've invested a huge amount of time and passion into the game."

"I really do believe you can tell when a game has a soul, when people went in and made the very best game they could. I know we did at Junction Point.“

"Obviously I hope it's very well received in the marketplace and with that in mind we hope for good sales. That's really going to be for the public to decide, for us we made the best game we could."

The game debuted to number 11 in the U.K. for the Wii, and unfortunately did not see anywhere near the top 40 in the all-formats chart.
