The Nintendo 3DS is one of the most anticipated pieces of hardware in the games business, and it continues to benefit from glowing praise among publishers and developers. In a recent interview with IndustryGamers, Disney's Warren Spector, who's currently finishing up Epic Mickey for Wii, professed his love for the 3DS.
We asked the veteran designer what he thought about the 3D handheld and if he'd like to bring some games to the device. He answered somewhat cryptically, "You know, if I talk about that, someone’s going to kill me, so we should move on." More generally speaking, Spector talked about how excited he was to be part of the Nintendo press conference during E3 and how badly he'd like to have a 3DS.
"That was absolutely one of the most fun things and coolest things I’ve ever done in my life. But anyway, we were backstage afterwards listening to the 3DS discussion and it’s like, we were just like getting more excited, cheering back there. Who knew it has a 3D camera? And you can watch 3D movies without glasses? I really expected him to say, '…and it tucks you into bed at night.' It’s like, 'holy cow, sign me up, I want the first one off the assembly line.' It’s amazing, and I’m not getting paid to say that. As a gamer, I just want it bad," he enthused.
Certainly, judging by Spector's budding relationship with Nintendo, we'd expect him to eventually announce something for 3DS. In fact, given the paint and thinner gameplay mechanic in Epic Mickey, we wouldn't be surprised to see an enhanced 3DS version at some point down the road.
