Ensemble's Bruce Shelley Settles at Blue Byte

Posted February 1, 2010 by David Radd

When Ensemble Studios broke up in early 2009, it scattered several veteran developers and pushed them to found new studios like Robot Entertainment, Bonfire Studios, Windstorm Studios and Newtoy. However, Bruce Shelley, one of Ensemble's earliest employees and among its most acclaimed developers, had not revealed his future plans until recently.

In the latest trailer for The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom [thanks Big Download] it is revealed that Shelley is the one narrating the description of the game's economic system. Shelley is apparently serving as a design consultant on the project.

The long-running strategy title is being developed by Blue Byte and published by Ubisoft. The Settlers would seem to be right up Shelley's alley, given his life-long passion for strategy board games like Risk and Stratego and work on strategy video games like Railroad Tycoon, Civilization and Age of Empires.
