Emergent Sees 58% Profitability Increase in 2009

Posted February 2, 2010 by James Brightman

Emergent Game Technologies announced today that its revenues grew 35% in 2009 and its profitability increased 58% thanks to "rapid adoption" of its Gamebryo LightSpeed technology. The company said growth was strongest in North America, China and Japan. Emergent ended the year with 120 deals closed, and the fourth quarter saw strong licensing and overall reduced expenses.

"Emergent has made changes to weather the tough economic climate and is poised to become stronger than ever as a result of those changes,” said Scott M. Johnson, Emergent’s CEO. “While the Asian market and the US visual simulation market never slowed for us, we are now seeing signs that game development is starting to pick up in North America and Europe.  Our core message of reducing redundancies by using Gamebryo LightSpeed is resonating with publishers and developers."

LightSpeed was first introduced back in May 2009. Emergent's 3D game engines have been used to power nearly 300 titles, including The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Civilization Revolution and Bully.
