Electronic Arts Files Three Trademarks for Syndicate

Posted August 4, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Electronic Arts has filed three separate trademarks involving Syndicate, the real-time tactics game developed by Bullfrog studios in 1993. Superannuation uncovered the trademarks, filed on July 30, each by EA.

One trademark was filed for “computer game software; downloadable computer game software via a global network and wireless devices; video game software.” Another lists “Entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game; provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet,” and most interesting of all is the third trademark. “Board games; collectable toy figures; hand held units for playing electronic games other than those adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor; modeled plastic toy figurines; playing cars,” states the puzzling third trademark.

Last year’s copyright registrations and a confirmation that Starbreeze Studios is working on a new Syndicate game shows that EA is indeed working on a new game; they just need to make the official announcement.
