Elder Scrolls V Hinted at by Book Website

Posted October 26, 2009 by David Radd

It's hard to believe, but it's been over three and a half years since the launch of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, something fans of the RPG need not be reminded of, as they no doubt count the days until the next game in the series releases. Today the first firm bit of information came from the website of publisher Waterstone [thanks Kotaku] for the novel The Elder Scrolls: Infernal City, set to release next month.

"A novel that takes places forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles," read the post. "It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis."

This posting has since been removed from Waterstone's site. We'd be shocked if Bethsoft wasn't hard at work on Elder Scrolls V right now and having this new novel act as something of a bridge with the former game would make a lot of sense (and wouldn't be the first, we might add). Now that the developer has a one-two punch in the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises, we'd expect releases in those series to come every couple of years or so.
