Jennifer Mercurio, Vice President and General Counsel to the Entertainment Consumers Association, has been given the honor of practicing law before the United States Supreme Court. With that honor, Mercurio can be a part of any case in front of the Unites States’ most powerful court.
Mercurio is leading the charge with ECA’s amicus brief against the upcoming Supreme Court review of the video game violence case, Schwarzenegger v. EMA. The final version of the amicus is to be submitted to the Court on or before September 17, 2010.
"We couldn't be happier or more proud that Jenn was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar," said Hal Halpin, ECA President. "The timing of her admittance is critical and this landmark First Amendment case so consequential, and the potential negative repercussions of a loss so staggering, that we must all redouble our efforts.”
Mercurio’s admittance is a possible boost to opponents of the California game law, but the battle itself is far from over. For more information on the ECA or this landmark case, gamers can visit the ECA’s website here.
