EA's Riccitiello: PS3 Price Cut 'Bold Move Done Precisely at the Right Time'

Posted August 20, 2009 by David Radd

The PS3 price drop has drawn praise from consumers and analysts, but so far few publishers have gotten the chance to give their reactions. EA CEO John Riccitiello was quick to chime in to the AP and say that the newer, cheaper PS3 is a "bold move done precisely at the right time."

The PS3 Slim will launch in early September and retail for $299. Riccitiello said this was a "great move" and was very happy that they didn't wait until Thanksgiving or Christmas to reduce the price saying that doing so in August "really stands out."

Of course, we also think EA's pleased with the August timing since it's not much after their release of Madden.
