EA Topping the App Store Charts With Release of iPhone 4

Posted June 25, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The recent release of the iPhone 4 has mobile consumers in a frenzy for the latest in handheld electronics, but developers are also excited about the continued iPhone gaming momentum.

EA Mobile in particular has been enjoying the iPhone surge. The company noted that it claimed 12 of the top 20 spots in the App Store on iPhone 4's launch day.

“EA is ushering in a new generation of mobile game players who are buying an iPhone 4,” said Adam Sussman, Vice President of Worldwide Publishing for EA Mobile. “Our rankings demonstrate the strength and breadth of our world-class brands and their popularity among consumers.

Popular titles from EA Sports and games that are familiar to consumers such as Battleship and Clue have dominated the App Store. The new NCAA Football was the first game from EA Mobile to specifically address the new features of the iPhone 4.

EA Mobile also enjoyed the top selling game in 2009, and has been a “definitive player with the rise of the iPhone and iTouch devices as gaming platforms,” the publisher boasted. With the continual rise in popularity of social gaming and the shift towards mobile/smartphone gaming by major developers, these sales figures represent a growing trend towards a booming market.
