EA Sports Working Hard to 'Close the Gap' Between NBA Live and NBA 2K

Posted July 8, 2009 by James Brightman

Last year's NBA Live got a 77 on Metacritic. 2K Sports' NBA 2K9 received a total of 84 on Metacritic. It's been a consistent pattern for years. The NBA 2K franchise continually outscores EA Sports' competing NBA Live series.  Later this fall, the two franchises with once again battle each other on the virtual court, but EA Sports President Peter Moore is expecting a much tighter basketball showdown this year.

As part of a larger EA Sports interview with IndustryGamers, Moore acknowledged that his NBA Live team has plenty of work to do to "close the gap."

"We obviously have continued work to do on NBA Live. We did get a 2-3 point increase on Metacritic year-on-year last year. The 2K guys do a great basketball game; we recognize that and give them credit where credit's due. At the same time, our team knows what they need to do to continue to close the gap between the two of us. That's what they're working on very, very diligently right now," he told us.

We'll be curiously watching the battle from the sidelines while simultaneously hoping that the Knicks one day become a respectable team again.

You're dreaming Brightman! LeBron isn't coming out and he'll kill the dreams of many a New York sports fan!
