EA Sports Joins President's Challenge

Posted November 17, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Today, EA Sports announced that it will be partnering with the President’s Challenge, a program from the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. EA Sports will become a President’s Challenge Advocate, committed to helping people of all ages achieve a healthy lifestyle through exercise and other physical activity. EA Sports wants all Americans to participate and earn their own President’s Active Lifestyle Award (PALA).

PALA encourages children to do 60 minutes of exercise five days a week for six weeks. For adults, the time is lowered to 30 minutes. Once participants have completed the program, they’ll receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States. The list of approved activities is available here.

“We are excited to partner with EA Sports as a President’s Challenge Advocate to provide Americans with a fun and engaging way to be active,” said Shellie Pfohl, executive director of PCFSN.

EA Sports will also be making a $100,000 donation in EA Sports Active 2 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and YWCA Greater Los Angeles Job Corps. EA Sports Active 2 is the newest version of EA’s digital fitness program for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (Kinect-enabled), Wii, and iOS devices. The game is now available at most retailers.
