EA, in case you somehow missed it, purchased leading casual firm PopCap Games today in a deal worth potentially as much as $1.3 billion. It's a huge investment for the traditional games publisher as it continues to transform its business and further align itself with the digital space.
In making the announcement, EA has now provided a pdf presentation outlining the terms of the deal and the major impact that the PopCap acquisition will have on its digital business. It's loaded with interesting facts and charts, and we highly recommend that you read it over.
Perhaps one of the most interesting points we observed is that, even though the PopCap addition puts EA squarely at number two in the digital space on Facebook behind Zynga, the FarmVille creator is still far, far ahead in terms of DAUs (daily active users). Zynga has more than five times the DAUs of EA and PopCap combined (53.3 million vs. 10 million, according to AppData.com as of July 8).
