As EA has stated repeatedly over the past few months, EA CEO John Riccitiello wants the FPS crown back from Activision's monster hit Modern Warfare. During the publisher's quarterly results call to investors, Riccitiello reiterated the company's primary target.
"We're not going to be happy until we've taken the leadership back in the first person shooter category," he said.
Battlefield: Bad Company and the Medal of Honor reboot form EA's first one-two punch in the fight against Modern Warfare. "We've made great strides with Bad Company, and we expect to make further strides with Medal of Honor, and we have strong plans for years to come," Riccitiello said.
EA DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold 5 million units since release. EA's LA team is working on the new Medal of Honor, with DICE helping on the online portion. EA also signed on to publish Epic Games' Bulletstorm, the company's latest Unreal Engine 3-based shooter, designed by People Can Fly.

With new Halo games still coming and the potential blockbuster franchises that both Bungie and Respawn will produce, getting that crown as the king of shooters definitely will not be easy, if at all possible.
