EA Closes Visceral Games' Australian Arm

Posted September 19, 2011 by M.H. Williams

The Australian arm of Dead Space developer Visceral Games has been shuttered today.  Kotaku Australia had received news from an anonymous source about the closing two days ago.  The Melbourne chapter of the International Game Developers’ Association then confirmed the studio closing on Twitter.

“Confirmation of EA closing Visceral has been received. Our best wishes to the 21 devs now out of a job,” read the Tweet.

Visceral’s main office in Redwood Shores, CA and the first branch office in Montreal, Canada remain open.  Visceral’s Melbourne branch was involved in the development of Dead Space, Godfather II, and Dante’s Inferno.  The closing is reportedly due to the strong Australian dollar.

IndustryGamers wishes the 21 developers good luck in finding new employment.
