Sony has released all the information a player could possibly need about their new Move controller. Today, at their press event, the company announced worldwide release dates and full pricing for the motion control peripheral.
The Move will be available in North America on September 19, in Europe on September 15, and in Japan on October 21. No other regions were announced at this time.
On pricing, the Move Controller will retail for $49.99, while the Wii Nunchuk-like Navigation Controller will go for $29.99. The PlayStation Move Sports Champions Bundle will include a Move controller, PlayStation Eye, and Sport Champions, all for $99.99. Finally, there will be a PlayStation 3 & Move bundle, with a PlayStation 3 console, Move, and a PlayStation Eye for $399.99.

Looks like Sony is giving Microsoft a butt kicking! Take that, and THAT! Guage the market for a reaction to a $149 controller will you?! No price drop on the slim (that is what drove sales with PS3 Slim) this spike is temp on the 360. Unless there really are a lot not buying because of the crashes, looking at PS1, and PS2 sales, and 'disc read error I say not.
But Come on, 149 is too much for a fancy controller! So no price drop on the slim, PLUS add 149 for a controller. Do they think the economy is rolling in high tech green jobs already?
As a 70% Microsoft fanboy, and a 30 percent Sony fanboy, I have to say Bill Gates',,,,ops I meant Steve Ballmers' Butt just got kicked. No disrespect Nintendo I'll get the 3DS though.

Good strategy, IMO, to announce the Move controller price alone first at $49.95. Even though most of the US public will be looking at the $99 bundle with the camera, most of the press will pick up on the $49 price first. And the comparison between $49 and $149 is stark.
Even $99 with camera + game is a good price point.

Seems like a good price point overall for the controllers and the eye/game/controller bundle, but the PS3 bundle seems off to me. What's the point of bundling it if it's the same price and content as if you bought a ps3 and move starter pack separately? Also, no one bought a PS3 when it was $399, I don't think this will be different. It's fully twice as expensive as a Nintendo Wii. Of course they'll try to emphasize it's a Blu-Ray player, web browser, 3D Enabled all-in-one machine.
Still, I can't be disappointed personally. Sorcery looked great and this thing will be an added experience for games like SOCOM4 and Killzone3. Not to mention Dead Space Extraction free with Dead Space 2. Really can't wait to see what else Playstation does with this.

Innerloop, the press might pick up on it, but ill informed consumers (parents buying this for their kids) are in for sticker shock when they realize that it's more or less a $49 paperweight without an additional purchase. I understand the need for pricing the units individually, but pushing the price of a piecemealed offer will only bring heartache.
Still, they're sticking it to Nata- er.. Kinect's $149. I hope for Msft's sake they can justify the price gap with value.

Kinect is cheaper..... $99.00 for the kit you HAVE to have, Add in another 80.00 for a second player and you have $180.00 to Kinects $150.00 (which BTW MS has yet to officially confirm) Consumers are not as dumb as you guys think they are.
Bundles FYI, $299.99 for arcade bundle 360 with kinect, 399.99 for Elite with Kinect, and $399.99 for ps3 with Move, + another 80.00 for a second player = $480.00 for the ps3 bundle.

Microsoft has talked not a peep about Kinect's price and until they do, much of the discussion is academic. Also, while both Kinect and Move are motion and gesture based, they're actual functionality is pretty different - they could end up appealing to different markets, assuming they find markets.
