At the end of Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference, Senior Vice President for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick unveiled a new Xbox 360 model. In a black, angular case, this smaller model has a proprietary 250-gigabyte hard disk (one that will not work with the first-gen 360), 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless networking and is said to run quieter than the old model. With a total of 5 USB ports this will probably help gamers that are looking forward to the upcoming release of Rock Band 3 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
Owners of the first-gen 360 will need to be aware that the power supply has been changed. The power brick has been reduced for the new 360, but the plug in has been changed. HDMI, digital in/out and other plugs have remained the same thus far.
The new model will have one plug that the other does not have: a direct connection with the Kinect. Users of the first-gen 360 will need to plug in a pre-packaged cord to power the Kinect.
Microsoft’s Larry Hryb also posted via twitter on added security features and a TOS Link for the new model.
This new Xbox 360 will cost $299, or the exact same price as the current Xbox 360 with a 120-gigabyte hard drive. Mattrick also made the surprise announcement that the model would be available in retail stores tomorrow.
Finally, those lucky enough in attendance for the presser were informed that they would have the new Xbox 360 shipped to their homes. This news was met with enthusiastic applause from those in attendance, after which a smiling Mattrick said, “That was really fun!”

As long as you can still plug it into the wall for that extra speed boost I'm happy.

In my book, if you're going to do a cost-reduced version to reduce manuf. costs, you need to pass that along to the consumer.
SlimXB360 at even a $50 price cut could have been a game-changer. But keeping it the same price (even considering the Wireless built-in) is weak.
MSFT definitely left their a-game at home this year.

Innerloop I was only talking about the wifi being in the box not the cost. I'm with you 100% on the cost, they should have done all this PLUS $50 off! In fact they should have done $100 off and made the hard drive bigger to boot. According to industry experts a current mass produced drive is cheaper than last years smaller mass produced hard drive. So all they really did was add wifi (which as you can tell is not a big deal to me).

And if Guitar Hero played on DS Lite, Guitar Hero On Tour Hand Grip can be agreeable. And it is a good choice.tiffany necklace
