The Entertainment Software Association has announced that E3 2012 will take place in the Los Angeles Convention Center on June, 5-7. This year’s show brought in 46,800 attendees. Unfortunately, the L.A. Times is reporting that the ESA is still in talks about whether the show will remain in the city. The ESA’s contract for the L.A. Convention Center ends next year and AEG Inc is looking to build a new football stadium on top of current convention space.
"There have been other places we've looked at," said Rich Taylor, association senior vice president of industry affairs. "We don't want our attendees to have to rappel across a construction quarry to get to a booth.”
"There are other locations that would obviously love to have a show of this size in their backyards, but thus far we feel we have a strong, mutually productive relationship with Los Angeles."
Sources close to the talks have told Joystiq that there’s nothing to worry about and the show will remain in its current space for the next several years. The ESA estimates that E3 2011 has contributed more than $25 million in revenue to Los Angeles.
