E3 2011: Ninja Gaiden 3 Coming To PS3, 360, and Wii U

Posted June 8, 2011 by M.H. Williams

At E3 2011, Tecmo Koei is finally showing off Ninja Gaiden 3 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  The first numbered Ninja Gaiden without input from creator Tomonobu Itagaki, who left the company to form Valhalla Game Studios.

Team Ninja will also be creating an exclusive Ninja Gaiden for Nintendo’s Wii U, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. There’s no information on how the title will differ from the 360 and PS3 version.

“Tecmo Koei America continues to evolve and reach new heights in the gaming world” said Tak Yamamoto, Executive VP of Tecmo Koei’s U.S. branch. “Our E3 lineup reflects a strong, fun and amazing new portfolio of titles that encompasses both high quality console action and explosive social engagement, all of which defines the essence of Tecmo Koei America and its direction in the future.”

"Ninja Gaiden 3 for PS3 and 360 is the base of the Wii U version," said team lead Fumihiko Yasuda at E3, according to Joystiq. "Of course, we understood that we would need to implement a particular gameplay experience with Wii U, so we are studying what we can do with that console. We're thinking of different modes and different combat action -- something different."

The company also revealed the revitalization of its Monster Rancher franchise on Android, reinforcing a continuing trend of traditional publishers getting involved in mobile and social gaming.
