Perhaps the saddest and most surprising title totally absent from E3 was The Last Guardian. The latest game from Team ICO was first shown off in a trailer last year, but there was nothing new shown off at E3 2010. Sony did confirm in later interviews that the game is still very much in development, and that they wanted to make a big splash when they did show it off. Sony rep Ron Eagle also added, “there's more dates on the calendar than just E3. More events. Read into that what you will.” Our guess is that another public showing of the game this year is likely, but a retail release in 2010 seems doubtful.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 also failed to make an appearance, despite the presence of several new titles during Ubisoft's E3 press conference. Rumors were that Michel Ancel had even left the company and that the project had been canceled, though Ubisoft had debunked that. Still, we're left waiting for any word on when this anticipated sequel is coming.
After being one of the bigger and more enigmatic announcements at E3 2009, the Wii Vitality Sensor wasn't talked about by Nintendo during their press conference. Apparently, the relaxation device was considered inappropriate for E3 but is still presumably coming.
With all the emphasis on Kinect by Microsoft, Milo was no where to be seen. The game, however, is still far along in development and was shown off behind closed doors at E3. Creator Peter Molyneux (who could never be accused of under-promising) said, "I promise you it is now ten times more amazing than you'd expect it to be from what you saw at [E3 2009].”
Besides that though, there were some key details that didn't make the cut at E3. For one, Kinect had no official pricing or any bundles announced. Early pricing by retailers has Kinect at $149.99, while Microsoft has said that they'll wait until Gamescon to announce any pricing. The 3DS, meanwhile, received neither a release date nor a price, but with the handheld likely not to come out until 2011, those details could be a ways off.
