Despite the decidedly lukewarm reviews of its completely in-house spy RPG, Alpha Protocol, Obsidian Entertainment is still doing pretty well for itself. The company is working on the highly-anticipated Fallout: New Vegas, a new Fallout sequel based on the experience Bethesda created with Fallout 3. Now Obsidian has been announced as the developer for Dungeon Siege 3, to be published by Square Enix on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
The development will be overseen by Dungeon Siege creator Chris Taylor. Players should expect an entirely new Dungeon Siege adventure built for high definition consoles, with the inclusion of a co-op multiplayer mode.
“It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Obsidian. They are a very talented developer who really knows what it takes to build a deep and engaging RPG experience, and I can’t think of a better group to continue the Dungeon Siege series,” said Taylor on his involvement with the title.
“It’s a distinct privilege and thrill to become a part of the Dungeon Siege legacy,“ said Feargus Urquhart, Co-Founder of Obsidian Entertainment. “This partnership with Square Enix is a milestone for both Obsidian and the franchise, and the two companies’ strengths for compelling characters and storytelling will shine throughout Dungeon Siege 3.”

Awesome! Was wondering if there would be a new Dungeon Siege game sometime in the near future. I liked the past games and Obsidian is pretty decent at RPG's so I could see it being pretty solid.
