The ultimate in vaporware is still in the cards if Take-Two has anything to say about it. According to a Kotaku source, the company has enlisted Borderlands developer Gearbox Software to finish the development of Duke Nukem Forever. The game that was in development for twelve years was assumed dead when its original developer, 3D Realms, finally ran out of money and went out of business.
Interestingly enough, Gearbox was reportedly developing the Duke Begins game that Take-Two shelved in early 2009. Perhaps the staff on that project moved to finish Forever?
Take-Two Interactive did confirm that they still have the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever, though they declined to comment on the status of the project or Gearbox’s involvement. A source told Kotaku that a playable demo would be available later this year.

They need to let that game die once and for all. If Gearbox is making a Duke game for Take-Two they need to make a new game. And even if they are using the code from the DNF game they should still call it something else.
