Dubai Police Want Their Own America's Army

Posted August 5, 2010 by M.H. Williams

A recent Gamasutra job posting has raised some eyebrows in the industry. It seems the Dubai Police Force is looking for a CryEngine game developer to help them create a training simulator for their department. Details are scarce, but it looks like they’re creating a virtual training program in the vein of the Virtual Army Experience (the training-centric version of America’s Army).

The position has an immediate start date, pays $70,000 U.S. dollars, and includes flights and medical insurance for the developer and his or her family. It requires 5 years of development experience, with additional skills in CryEngine development, Artificial Intelligence, and C++. The position will report directly to Dr. Ahmed Bin Subaih, Head of Virtual Training Section.

“We stay one step ahead being the first to apply electronic services, particularly in the Arab world, so that now anyone can renew their registration from anywhere in the world. We are unlike any other Police Force in the world,” reads the job posting. A virtual simulator is a logical step forward for a police force that prizes itself on being technologically advanced.

But don't take your Blackberry into the interview, or they may arrest you.
