Apple's App Store and iPhone may be the dominant force at the moment, but Android is making a nice push of its own on the mobile gaming front. Today, Android got a boost from leading casual games company Oberon, which is planning a full lineup of games through its I-play business.
Supporting Android-powered devices like Verizon's Droid and others, I-play will launch franchises including Fast & Furious, Deal or No Deal and Bubble Town, among others. Oberon noted that I-play "has strong relationships with the same wireless carriers, handset manufacturers and distribution partners as Android, which enables them to maximize the value for the consumer."
"I-play has been providing high-end gaming content for mobile devices since the creation of this genre," said Keith Adair, Global VP Sales & Marketing, Mobile at I-play. "We will be ramping up our focus on the Smartphone market in 2010, especially on Android. This promising platform has a potential for a wide reach and a user-friendly, high-quality, socially-connected gaming experience, that will ensure that the Android market continues to grow for a very long time."
I-play promises that its Android games will feature high-quality graphics and gameplay, and the titles will also offer connected social and micro-transaction features.
