While the spotlight right now seems to have shifted to the critically-acclaimed Mass Effect 2, which shipped 2 million copies in its first week, BioWare's other major recent release, Dragon Age: Origins, has gotten off to a tremendous start, particularly for a brand-new IP. EA sent word today that the game has sold-in to retailers worldwide 3.2 million units.
BioWare continues to support Dragon Age with DLC like Warden’s Keep and Return to Ostagar. A new expansion, Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, is set to launch on March 16.
“This is a tremendous start for the Dragon Age franchise and we are extremely pleased with the great reception the game has already received from critics and fans worldwide,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. “Our team is dedicated to crafting high quality, engaging new adventures and stories in the world of Ferelden for our fans!”
EA today revealed its upcoming product slate for fiscal 2011, which seems to indicate that Dragon Age 2 will be coming by next March.
