Today, BioWare confirmed the existence of the long-rumored sequel to the 2009 smash-hit RPG, Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age 2 will follow the triple-platinum selling first title which garnered “RPG of The Year” awards from Game Informer, G4, IGN, and Spike TV. The game will feature a new story, more action, a “more responsive” combat system, and updated graphics. Dragon Age 2 will follow the “rise to power” of Hawke, a new protagonist in the Dragon Age universe. The new title is scheduled for release on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in March of 2011.
Some lovely concept art for the game
“Last year’s launch of Dragon Age: Origins was one of the most successful in BioWare’s 15-year history and one of the most successful new IP launches in the 28 year history of EA,” said BioWare head Ray Muzyka. “Dragon Age 2 will simultaneously deliver an epic story and set a new bar for intense action in the genre. We're very excited to deliver this next bold evolution in the Dragon Age franchise to our fans.”
“With Dragon Age 2 we are creating an exciting new entry point into the Dragon Age universe while ensuring that fans of the original game retain a sense of satisfaction and familiarity in the world,” said Dragon Age 2 Executive Producer Mark Darrah. “We are amplifying the things that made Dragon Age: Origins such a huge success while introducing a more dynamic combat system, improving the graphics, and telling the most important story in our world.”
Dragon Age 2's story will span 10 years and follow the previously mentioned Hawke character in his journey to change the Dragon Age universe forever. So far, there is no news as to whether players will be able to create their own hero, like the first title.

Very excited for Bioware's next masterpiece tho I am disappointed that its not a continuation of my characters story nor does it seem your action and choices from the first game and XP ties into this new story. I've played DA:O and DA:A 4 times in hope to have more diverse experiences for the next installment but may not be the case now. Really looking forward to some news on this since we really don't know much yet.
