Disney's Epic Mickey Will Make You Cry, says Warren Spector

The question has been asked many times before: Can a video game make you cry? For some, during special moments in a game, it's likely already happened, but Junction Point's Warren Spector is going after a much broader audience with Epic Mickey, due out in November. The veteran game designer believes the title will make some people cry, but not for the reason you might think.

Spector is a huge fan of the music in the game, and he believes it'll stir up emotions for many. In a lengthy, in-depth interview about Epic Mickey and Spector's approach to design, he told IndustryGamers, "I’ve done so many games where you have heroes that look like the mighty Thor, and gun this, and sunglasses at night.  Even as a gamer, I’m so tired.  I want to do something that makes people smile, that’s charming."

He then noted the importance of audio: "Like you listen to Pixar movies, and I look over at my wife and said ‘I want to do a game someday that deserves a soundtrack like that. With music like that.’  I could not be happier with the music in this game.  People are going to cry."

Epic Mickey will launch exclusively for Wii on November 30.
