Posted November 21, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Disney Interactive Media Group has announced a new head of social games, John Spinale, the former OnLive VP for games and media.  This new acquisition puts Spinale as the head of social gaming for Disney, where he will be leading all aspects of social gaming for the company, including Playdom.

"Playdom has an exciting roadmap for 2012 and beyond, and John will play an important role in bringing the magic of Disney to the world’s most popular social media platforms," said DIMG co-president John Pleasants. "Social games are a key part of Disney’s digital strategy, and will be a critical driver of DIMG’s future success."

Spinale has several years of experience working in social gaming development, heading up content strategy for OnLive.  He previously served as senior VP of product development at Eidos through 2005, and was also responsible for Mech Warrior production with Activision in the '90s.
