Disney Files Trademark on Castle of Illusion

Posted October 5, 2011 by Ben Strauss

For those that remember the Sega Genesis and more importantly Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, Disney has set the stage for something software-related happening to the franchise.  A new trademark has been filed by Disney for the term “Castle of Illusion,” sans Mickey.

Thus far, no real plans have been announced by Disney at this time, but the trademark and software specification could mean anything from an entirely new game (perhaps in the form of Epic Mickey?) or simply a virtual console release for platforms like the 3DS or mobile devices.  The one thing this does confirm is that the trademark will be used for a video game related purpose.
